How to Pay OpenRouter with Zcash (ZEC): Beta Guide

Shawn Muggle

You hold ZEC and want OpenRouter credits. OpenRouter's own crypto checkout sends you to a Coinbase payment page that, at the time of writing, takes USDC on Base, so Zcash cannot pay it directly.

ROZO Checkout can pay that same OpenRouter payment link with ZEC. Open checkout.rozo.ai/zec, paste the link, and send at least the ZEC amount shown to a one-time transparent Zcash address; your wallet's network fee comes on top. Once the Zcash network confirms your payment, ROZO settles the invoice in USDC and the credits are added to your OpenRouter account. You do not need to swap or bridge anything yourself, and no ROZO account is needed.

ZEC is in Beta. It has its own page, it carries a daily limit, and it can be paused for a safety check, in which case the page tells you before anything is created. ROZO Checkout is independent and not affiliated with OpenRouter or Coinbase.

Steps to pay OpenRouter with crypto: copy your OpenRouter payment link, paste it into ROZO Checkout, pick a chain, and pay.
Every method starts the same way: paste your OpenRouter payment link or payment ID into ROZO Checkout.

Pay with ZEC in 5 steps

  1. In OpenRouter, open Settings, then Credits. Turn on the crypto option, enter the amount ($10 or more) and click Purchase. Copy the payment link it produces.
  2. Open checkout.rozo.ai/zec, paste the link and click Checkout with Zcash. ZEC (Beta) is already selected; click Pay with ZEC on Zcash to create the order. One payment link can only be paid one way, so after this step the link can no longer be paid with USDC, USDT or Bitcoin.
  3. The page shows a one-time transparent Zcash address (it starts with t1), a QR code, the ZEC amount to send and a countdown for the price.
  4. Scan the QR code with your Zcash wallet, or copy the address and the amount, and send at least that amount, once. The QR code already carries the amount.
  5. Keep the page open. It moves through Waiting for payment, Payment detected, Confirming and Topping up to Success. At Success the OpenRouter invoice is settled and the credits are applied.

No refund address is needed on the current Beta. If something goes wrong, support uses your transaction hash to find the payment.

Before you send: amount, timer and address

How long it takes

Expect several minutes, not seconds. The top-up starts after 1 Zcash confirmation when the order total is under $110, and after 2 confirmations from $110. A Zcash block takes about 75 seconds on average and sometimes much longer, so the wait depends mostly on when the next block arrives.

The payment page shows the confirmation count live and never moves on by a timer, only on what the Zcash network reports. If a recent block is replaced, the page says it is counting confirmations again. Your payment is still tracked; do not pay a second time.

What it costs

Crypto payments to OpenRouter are not refundable under OpenRouter's policy, so check the amount and the account before you pay.

In every case, keep the payment page open and keep your transaction hash. To reach support, use the Need help? chat button on this page, email hi@rozo.ai, or ask in the ROZO Discord at discord.gg/EfWejgTbuU. There is no automatic refund in the Beta; support reviews each case.

Shielded wallets and the transparent address

You can pay from a shielded balance if your wallet can send to a transparent address. The deposit address itself is transparent, so the amount and the time of the deposit are visible on the Zcash chain like any transparent transfer, and OpenRouter and ROZO keep the order records they normally keep. This page does not describe ZEC checkout as a private or anonymous payment.

The current Beta receives each payment at its own one-time t1 address and tracks it through confirmations on the public chain. Receiving to a shielded address is not part of the current implementation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay OpenRouter with Zcash?
Not on OpenRouter's own checkout, which takes USDC on Base at the time of writing. Through ROZO Checkout, the same OpenRouter payment link can be paid with ZEC on checkout.rozo.ai/zec. ZEC is in Beta.
Do I need a refund address?
No. The current ZEC Beta does not ask for one. If a payment arrives late or short, contact support with your transaction hash and the payment link: the support chat on this page, hi@rozo.ai or discord.gg/EfWejgTbuU.
Can I pay from a shielded Zcash balance?
Yes, if your wallet can send from a shielded balance to a transparent address. The deposit address is a transparent t1 address, so the deposit is visible on the Zcash chain.
Why is the deposit address transparent and not shielded?
The current Beta gives every order its own one-time transparent t1 address and tracks the payment through its confirmations on the public chain. Receiving to a shielded address is not part of the current implementation, so we do not describe it as a shielded checkout.
How long until the credits arrive?
Usually several minutes. The top-up starts after 1 Zcash confirmation for an order under $110 and after 2 from $110, and a Zcash block takes about 75 seconds on average, sometimes longer. The payment page shows each step live.
What if ZEC is not offered for my payment?
The page tells you why and offers other coins. The amount may be outside the ZEC limits, today's ZEC limit may be used up (it resets at 00:00 Japan time), or ZEC may be paused for a safety check. Nothing is created in those cases.
Can the CLI pay with ZEC?
No. ZEC is paid on the web only: open checkout.rozo.ai/zec in a browser. The ROZO Checkout CLI does not create ZEC orders.
